What are the Community Committees & Volunteer Pools?
Peoria Proud is expanding our community involvement by launching advisory committees and volunteer pools designed to grow our capacity in education, advocacy, and social outreach. These groups help us better connect with the community, identify needs, and organize collective action.
Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be LGBTQ+, BIPOC, trans, GNC, disabled, an artist, or a professional advocate to join. Allies are welcome and encouraged!
As long as you can show up respectfully and follow our Code of Conduct, you can participate.
Do I have to be a Peoria Proud board member?
Nope! You do not have to be a member, donor, or previous volunteer to get involved.
Do I have to sign a Code of Conduct?
Yes. To protect our community and maintain safe, respectful spaces, all participants must sign the Code of Conduct for their committee or volunteer pool before receiving meeting invitations or being added to volunteer lists.
Does signing up commit me to anything?
No. Nearly all committees and volunteer pools are low-commitment or no-commitment unless you choose a leadership role. You can attend what you want, when you want.
What are the leadership positions?
Most committees allow two community leadership roles:
Co-chair – helps lead meetings
Secretary – helps with notes, communication, and structure
These roles do require attending all scheduled meetings.
Leadership is open to anyone interested in supporting their community in a structured way. Experience is not required.
How do I sign up?
Visit our Committee & Volunteer Pool Sign-Up Form.
Select all committees or volunteer pools that interest you, share your contact info, and indicate whether you may be interested in leadership roles.
You'll receive a follow-up email with next steps once the Codes of Conduct are finalized and meetings begin in early 2026.
